Locals’ Dinner Favorites
Cork Wine Bar
Cozy, in-town wine shop and restaurant with small and large plates featuring tastes of the seasons. Some favorite plates: Grilled Elmore Mountain bread and Butternut Squash Bolognese.
Plate Restaurant
This Main Street stand-out offers California-inspired, Vermont-made creations. Be sure to try the Vermont smoked cheddar soufflé or Beer-brined chicken breast. Enjoy your meal bar-side and watch creative bartenders hard at work.
Doc Ponds
This popular casual restaurant and bar is from the same folks behind the acclaimed Hen of the Wood. They don’t take reservations, but you can put your name on a waitlist if they are full. Locals and tourists alike enjoy the Braised Kale with Coconut Chili Broth, the Fried Chicken Sandwich with Maple Mayo, and the Broccoli Cheddar Melt with Pimento Cheese on Sourdough.
Idletyme Brewery and Restaurant
A lively brewery-restaurant pairing European-inspired craft beers with a menu of American comfort fare like burgers, fish & chips, and seasonal salads in a casual, friendly setting.
Butler’s Pantry
Another Main Street gourmet go-to, Butler’s Pantry was first famous for its breakfasts. Now father and daughter chefs serve up delicious weekly specials and seafood plates such as Pan Roasted Striped Bass with Shrimp and Garlic Risotto and “Green Goddess” Pea Puree.
Salute
The closest dinner location to Tӓlta, this warmly lit Italian restaurant serves classic dishes, including wood-fired focaccia, handmade pasta, and rich sauces. So good you might not have any leftovers to bring back to your room, especially if you order the Eggplant Rollatini or the Rigatoni Alla Vodka.
American Flatbread Pizza
The Stowe location of this wood-fired pizzeria is a beloved local gathering spot for both après-ski dinners and relaxed Vermont nights. It’s known for its wood-fired organic ingredients, creative seasonal toppings, and perfectly blistered crusts.
The Matterhorn Restaurant and Bar
Vermont’s original Apres hangout before Apres became fashionable. Not glamorous or gourmet, the Matterhorn boasts a healthy selection of beers on tap with locals’ mugs hanging from the ceiling and serves up pizza, sushi, and burgers.
